Hearth Project up and running in Mayo

The Hearth Project in Mayo — which brings art into the homes of older people who are isolated geographically or restricted for other reasons — has received funding from Healthy Ireland for 2018. Each participant is visited by a skilled artist who is experienced in working with older people. The artist travels to the home of the older person weekly and facilitates a one to one workshop there.

Write Now is a Mayo Art Service and Film Mayo event for Mayo writers that will take place on Saturday, December 9 in Breaffy House, Castlebar. In the morning there will be presentations by three professional writers; Elizabeth Reapy (fiction writer), Eugene O’Brien (screenwriter) and Eva O’Connor (playwright). This is an opportunity for established or budding Mayo writers to come along and enjoy presentations focusing on three different writing forms.

Round table for artists, makers, creatives in Ballina

This special Mayo Ideas Week session with Michael Atavar is an initiative of Mayo County Council Arts Office and Inspiration Station and will take place in The Kennedy Glasgow Centre, The Quay, Ballina, from 10am to 1pm on Wednesday, September 28. This session will be of particular interest to artists, architects, designers, craft artists, and anyone who is engaged in creative production, but it is open to everyone to attend. Mayo County Council Arts Office and Inspiration Station are delighted to host this opportunity for Mayo creatives to engage with renowned creative expert Michael Atavar, on his first visit to the west of Ireland.

Applications sought for Music Recording Assistance Award

Mayo County Council is currently taking applications for the Music Recording Assistance Award. The award was established to support the recording of original music across all genres by musicians/singers/songwriters resident in Mayo. The Music Recording Assistance Grant consists of two awards of up to €800.
